Welcome to Midwesterners in Maryland! I’m so glad you stopped by! Here’s the story of how me and my husband came to be Midwesterners in Maryland.
We were both born, and for the most part raised, in Minnesota. I grew up on a farm where we raised pigs. My childhood consisted of doing things like this:
Throw that on top of the fact that I was the oldest of seven children, and there’s no doubting I am from the good old Midwest.
I went to college at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, where I majored in Mathematics and Music.
My senior year I met my husband, who was attending graduate school at THE University of Wisconsin in Madison.
After dating for a very short time, I was faced with deciding where to go to graduate school myself. After careful consideration, I decided that the best opportunity for me was at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
After completing my Master’s degree in Statistics and spending nearly two years away from the Midwest, I returned home to marry my best friend.
We spent a few months in Madison, WI while my husband finished his Doctorate in Physics.
In the fall of 2012, Steve was offered a job at Northrop Grumman near Baltimore, Maryland. He accepted, and the following January we moved to Jessup, Maryland.
Shortly after moving to Maryland I was offered and accepted a job at Merkle, a marketing agency in Columbia, Maryland. I love my job and the people I work with. We do neat things like this:
And drink things like this:
In November of 2013, we purchased our first house in Columbia, Maryland. The house was a bit of a fixer-upper, so we’ve been hard at work, but we absolutely love it! Check out the House page to read more about our renovation adventures.
Life in Maryland has taken some getting used to, but I think we’ve adjusted quite well. The one thing we love about Maryland is it’s close proximity to everything! Check out the blog posts to learn more about our many adventures!
